BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS)

Who Should Attend

The BLS course is designed for healthcare professionals and students who provide care in hospitals, clinics, dental offices, assisted living, or other medical settings. This includes nurses, EMTs, medical assistants, and anyone in a healthcare training program who requires American Heart Association BLS certification.

Course Description

The Basic Life Support (BLS) class provides essential training in recognizing and responding to cardiac arrest and other life-threatening emergencies.
Participants learn how to:

  • Deliver high-quality chest compressions

  • Provide effective rescue breaths with a barrier device

  • Use an AED quickly and correctly

  • Work efficiently as part of a resuscitation team

This instructor-led course emphasizes real-world application through video demonstrations, guided practice, and skills testing to build confidence and competence in every participant.

Course Features

  • Follows the latest American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and ECC

  • Interactive, hands-on instruction with small group feedback

  • Focus on team dynamics and effective communication during resuscitation

  • Realistic scenarios and practice on adult, child, and infant manikins

  • Course length: approximately 4 hours, including skills practice and testing

Learning Outcomes

After completing the BLS course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the importance of high-quality CPR and how it improves survival

  • Identify all links in the Chain of Survival and apply BLS concepts effectively

  • Recognize signs of cardiac arrest and when CPR is needed

  • Perform high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants

  • Use an AED safely and promptly

  • Provide effective ventilation using a barrier device

  • Work as a coordinated team member during multi-rescuer CPR

  • Demonstrate techniques for relieving choking in adults, children, and infants
